malloc and OSX

Postby smd » Sun Apr 05, 2015 6:14 pm

Part of my program is written in Standard POSIX compliant C. some buffers are created using malloc in the usual way. While working on the GUI side of the program, I happened across the help entry for malloc (cursor was on malloc when I hit F1 to check syntax of something else)

The help entry is the typical information. However, in the Portability information, it shows, as expected, it is portable between POSIX, ANSI C, ANSI C++, Win32

But it shows malloc as not portable to Win64 and OSX

So what is the deal with malloc and OSX?

If it is not portable to OSX, what do I use?

Seems ridiculuousness that a core function such as malloc would not be portable to OSX.

I think you`d be better off using google for help than the RAD help files. The RAD help has
gone downhill at 100mph since BCB5.
